XPRESS YORKSHIRE PRESS-FIT COPPER OBTUSE ELBOW 45 DEG 15mm to 88.9mm

The Xpress Yorkshire Press-Fit Copper Obtuse Elbow 45 Deg joins two copper pipes at 45 degrees, with a press joint on each end. It is the everyday fitting for easing a pipe round an obstacle or making an offset without the hard turn of a 90.

What it’s used for

Pairs of 45s are the neat way to step a run sideways past a beam, a duct or another service. They also give better flow than a 90 in pumped heating and in large bore water mains, where pressure drop matters. On plant room work, the bigger sizes help set out headers and connections to equipment.

It is part of the Xpress copper range for hot and cold water, vented and sealed heating and chilled water, but never on gas.

Fitting tips

• Cut copper square, deburr inside and out, and mark the insertion depth on both pipes.
• Set the angle before pressing. Once pressed, it can’t be turned.
• Leak Before Press shows any joint left unpressed when you test.
• For 66.7mm and over, make sure your press tooling covers the size.

Why use two 45s instead of a 90?

A pair of 45 degree bends gives a gentle offset with less pressure drop than a hard right angle. That helps on pumped heating and big water mains.
