The Xpress Stainless Steel Flat Faced Union, code SS68FF, is a flat-seal half union for XPress stainless water and heating pipe, listed by us in 22mm x 1″, 35mm x 1 1/2″, 42mm x 1 3/4″ and 54mm x 2 3/8″ for engineers who need a joint they can break. One end presses onto the tube and the other has a coupling nut that pulls up on a flat EPDM washer.
That gives a take-apart joint for a pump, meter, valve or piece of plant. It is 316L stainless with an EPDM O-ring on the press end and the Leak Before Pressed feature. The nut has a parallel G thread and seals on the face, not on the thread.
Fit a new washer each time the union is broken and keep PTFE off the nut thread. Related fittings are in our XPress stainless steel press fittings.

Common Questions
Do I put PTFE on the union nut? No. The Xpress Stainless Steel Flat Faced Union seals on its flat washer, not on the thread. Tape on the thread can stop the faces pulling together.
Should I reuse the washer? Fit a new flat washer whenever the union has been broken. An old washer may have taken a set and weep.
Is XPress stainless approved for drinking water? Yes, WRAS is among the approvals Aalberts list for it. It is also listed for heating, chilled water, compressed air, solar and sprinklers.
What happens if I forget to press a joint? XPress fittings have a Leak Before Pressed feature, so an unpressed joint weeps when the system is filled and tested. Find it and press it before handing over.
