The Fluidmaster PRO550UK is a push button dual flush valve with a 350mm cable from the button to the valve. This Fluidmaster flush valve swaps out an old syphon or a leaking drop valve in a toilet cistern. It suits plumbers, landlords and householders sorting out a toilet that runs on or flushes badly.

It fits cisterns with a 1 1/2 inch or 2 inch outlet, and an overflow height between 8 1/2 inches and 13 1/2 inches. The cable lets the valve sit away from the button hole, which helps in awkward cisterns. Both the full and part flush can be set between 3 and 6 litres, so you can match the water used to the pan. Will it fit my cistern?

Measure the outlet hole in the bottom of the cistern. This valve suits 1 1/2 inch and 2 inch outlets. Also check the overflow height falls between 8 1/2 and 13 1/2 inches.

How do I adjust the flush?

The full and part flush volumes are set on the valve, anywhere from 3 to 6 litres. Change them a bit at a time and test until the pan clears cleanly.

Why does my toilet keep running into the pan?

Usually the seal where the valve sits on the outlet is worn or has dirt under it. Clean it or fit a new seal before you change the whole valve.

How do I fit a Fluidmaster dual flush valve?

Turn off the water, empty the cistern and take the old flush unit out. Fit the new valve to the outlet with its seal, set the overflow height, then fit the cable and button. Turn the water on and check for leaks before you put the lid back.
