Common Questions

Do I Need a Side Entry or Bottom Entry Fill Valve?
Look at where the water pipe goes into the cistern. If it comes up through the base you need a bottom entry valve, and if it goes in through the side wall near the top you need a side entry valve.

How Do I Set the Water Level?
There is an adjuster on the float or float arm. Turn it a little at a time and let the cistern refill until the water stops just under the overflow, usually at the water line marked inside the cistern.

Brass Shank or Plastic Shank?
A brass shank gives a stronger thread that is harder to crack when you tighten the backnut. A plastic shank is fine on most domestic cisterns and costs a bit less.
