The Vaillant ecoLEVEL Condensate Pump lifts condensate away from a condensing boiler that sits far from a drain, so the boiler can go where it suits rather than next to a waste pipe. Get it at Plumb Parts in Glasgow.

Description

When a condensing boiler has to go somewhere without a handy drain, the Vaillant ecoLEVEL Condensate Pump is the answer. It collects the acidic water the boiler produces and pumps it up and away to a suitable waste point.

Why fit a condensate pump

Every condensing boiler makes condensate, and normally it runs away by gravity into a waste or soil pipe. That is not always possible. Think of a boiler in a basement, in a cupboard on an inside wall, or in a flat where the only waste is across the room. A pump takes the water up and over to a drain, so the boiler can sit in the best spot. It also avoids long external condensate runs that freeze in a Scottish winter.

Common Questions

When does a boiler need a condensate pump?

When the condensate cannot fall by gravity to a waste or soil pipe, for example in a basement or an inside cupboard far from a drain. It also avoids long outside condensate pipes that can freeze.

How high can a condensate pump lift water?

It depends on the model, and the figure is in the pump’s instructions. Keep the discharge run as short and simple as you can.

What happens if the condensate pump fails?

When the safety cut-out is wired as the instructions show, the boiler shuts down rather than flooding the cupboard. A Gas Safe engineer can then check the pump and clear any blockage.

Installation advice, from our Glasgow trade counter

Mount the pump below the boiler condensate outlet so the water drains into it by gravity. Run the discharge pipe to a proper waste connection with a trap or air break, as the boiler manual sets out. Keep the outlet pipe protected from frost if any of it is outside. Connect the safety cut-out as the instructions show. Then, if the pump ever fails, the boiler stops rather than flooding the cupboard. Any work inside a gas boiler is for a Gas Safe registered engineer only.

The Vaillant ecoLEVEL Condensate Pump sits with our other boiler controls and accessories.

Pumps can be collected in person from Plumb Parts (555 South Street, Glasgow G14 0QX) or sent for online. Mon-Fri 8am-5pm is the weekday slot, and Sat-Sun 8am-1pm at the weekend.
