Bent suits pipes that come out of a wall and turn up to the tap. Straight suits pipes that rise straight up.

Does it need a washer on the tap?

Fit a tap washer as usual so the nut seals on the tail.

Will it fit a mixer with flexible tails?

No, it is for taps with a 1/2″ threaded tail.
