FloPlast Compression Straight Coupler – WC07 32mm

For an in-line repair on a basin waste, the FloPlast Compression Straight Coupler WC07 links two lengths of 32mm pipe using a nut and rubber seal on each side. It is white and comes from FloPlast’s Compression waste range.

Why use the FloPlast Compression Straight Coupler WC07

Compression fittings grip the pipe with a seal rather than relying on glue, which makes them a good choice when you are joining onto something you cannot easily identify. They also come apart again, handy for a basin waste that might need to be changed.

Cut the pipe ends square and remove the burrs so they do not nick the seal. Slide on the nut, then the seal, and push the pipe fully into the coupler. Tighten by hand plus a small turn. Overtightening squashes the seal and can cause a leak instead of curing one.

Clip either side of the coupler so the joint is not under strain. It is also a quick way to repair a cracked section without gluing anything.

Why use a Compression coupler instead of a glued one?

It grips the pipe with a seal, so it works on pipe you cannot identify and can come apart again. Solvent cement only bonds matching ABS pipe.

Will the WC07 join old metal basin waste to plastic?

FloPlast state their Compression fittings take plastic and copper pipe. They recommend them where an old copper or lead waste has to be connected.

Why is my new Compression joint weeping?

Most often the pipe was not pushed fully home, or the seal is the wrong way round. Slacken the nut, reseat the pipe and seal, and retighten by hand plus a little.
