The JG Speedfit 28mm x 28mm x 15mm Reducing Tee is a white plastic push-fit tee with two 28mm run sockets and a 15mm branch, for small take-offs from 28mm copper or Speedfit barrier pipe on water and heating. Pick it up from our Glasgow counter at 555 South Street G14 0QX.
The JG Speedfit 28mm x 28mm x 15mm Reducing Tee drops a 15mm branch straight off a 28mm main. Both run ends are 28mm and the branch socket is 15mm, all white plastic push-fit, for heating engineers and plumbers on copper or Speedfit pipe.
Use it where big pipe passes close to a small fixture: a drain-off or filling point on 28mm primary pipework, a 15mm feed to a pressure vessel or gauge, or a basin supply taken off a 28mm cold main. Doing the same with an equal tee means a stem reducer or two reducers, so this one fitting saves length and joints.
Fit 28mm inserts in the run ends and a 15mm insert in the branch on plastic pipe. Push the 28mm pipes in straight to the 44mm stop, as heavy copper can stop short if it goes in at an angle, and the 15mm branch to 30mm. The 15mm leg is small next to the body, so clip it close. Drain down fully before cutting the JG Speedfit 28mm x 28mm x 15mm Reducing Tee into a live system, since 28mm holds a lot of water. The rest of the range is in our JG Speedfit fittings and pipe section.

Common Questions
Which way round are the sizes on a reducing tee? Read them as one end of the run, the other end of the run, then the branch. So 28mm x 28mm x 15mm means 28mm and 28mm on the straight-through run and 15mm on the side branch. Check the sizes moulded on the body before you cut in.
How far does the pipe go into the fitting? On 28mm the pipe stop sits 44mm in from the mouth of the socket. Mark that depth on the pipe so you can see it has gone fully home, then pull back to check the grip. A pipe that stops short can still hold but weep.
Can it be used on central heating? Yes, on vented and sealed systems, where it’s rated at 3 bar with a short-term top temperature of 95°C. Speedfit want at least a metre of copper between the boiler and the first plastic joint, and none of it on an uncontrolled heat source such as a solid fuel range.
Can it be used for gas or oil? No. Speedfit pipe and fittings are for water and heating only, not gas, fuel oil or compressed air. For gas you need copper or a gas-rated system.
