The Bayonet Cooker Hose connects a freestanding natural gas cooker to a bayonet wall socket with a push and twist plug. It is listed with 3ft, 4ft, 1/2″ and 22mm options. A gas hose with a bayonet plug means the cooker can be unplugged and pulled out for cleaning without breaking into the pipework. It is for Gas Safe registered engineers fitting or replacing a cooker hose.
The plug pushes into the wall socket and twists to lock, and the socket is made to shut off the gas when the plug is taken out. This hose is not for LPG. Choose the length so it hangs in a loose loop behind the cooker without touching the floor or the back of the oven. Make sure the cooker has a stability chain or bracket, so it can’t be pulled out far enough to strain the hose. Check the hose at each service and replace it if it is cracked or worn.
We keep cooker hoses at our Glasgow counter, so engineers can call in for one on the way to a job.

Common Questions
Can I fit a bayonet cooker hose myself?
No. Connecting a gas cooker is gas work and should be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer, who will test the installation for leaks afterwards.
How does a gas bayonet fitting work?
The plug on the hose pushes into the wall socket and turns to lock. When the plug is turned and pulled out, the socket closes off the gas.
Can you leave a bayonet socket with nothing plugged in?
The socket is made to close when the plug is out, so it is fine while the cooker is pulled out for cleaning. If the cooker is going for good, have an engineer cap the supply properly.
Should I get a 3ft or 4ft hose?
Pick the length that lets the hose hang in a loose loop behind the cooker without touching the floor or the oven. Your engineer will check this when fitting.
