Hose Clip 18mm to 40mm

A hose clip is the worm drive band you tighten with a screwdriver to clamp a hose onto a pipe or spigot. Three clamping ranges are offered, covering 18-25mm, 20-32mm and 20-40mm.

Picking the right hose clip

Measure across the outside of the hose once it is pushed on, because that is what the clip has to close round. Then pick the range that the figure falls inside, ideally near the middle. The 18-25mm size suits small hoses such as appliance drains and condensate pipes. For bigger waste hoses and rubber connectors, the 20-32mm and 20-40mm clips give more room.

Slide the clip onto the hose before you push the hose onto the spigot. Position it just behind any bead or ridge on the spigot, then tighten until the hose is gripped firmly. Overtightening can cut into soft hose, so stop once it is snug. If the band ends up well past the housing, drop down a size so there is no long sharp tail.
