A BZP female steel back plate M10 fixes to walls or ceilings and takes M10 threaded rod, giving a zinc plated anchor for steel clamps and rubber lined pipe clips. Collect from Plumb Parts in Glasgow.
The BZP female steel back plate M10 is a bright zinc plated steel plate with an M10 female thread in the centre. Rod or a stud screws into it, and a pipe clamp then fits on the other end.
Fitting the BZP female steel back plate M10
This plate is the anchor for steel and rubber lined clamps on walls, soffits and timber. A short stud holds pipe close to the surface, while a longer length of M10 rod drops the pipe to the height you want. The bright zinc plating, which is what BZP stands for, gives the steel some protection against rust indoors.
- Bright zinc plated (BZP) steel
- Female M10 thread
- Takes M10 threaded rod or studs
- For steel clamps and anti vibration clips
Use the right anchors for the surface, because the plate only holds as well as its fixings. In concrete use proper anchors, and in timber use wood screws long enough to bite well. Screw the rod fully into the thread and lock it with a nut against the plate. BZP is fine indoors, but outside or in very damp places a galvanised plate will last longer. Male plates and the clamps themselves are in our steel clamps category.

Common Questions
What does a female back plate do?
It is the anchor at the top or back of a hanging support. You screw it to the structure, wind M10 rod into the centre, and the pipe clamp then goes on the other end of the rod.
Female or male back plate: which do I want?
Pick the female M10 plate when you plan to use rod or a stud between the plate and the clamp. The male plate suits a clamp that screws straight onto the plate with no rod.
Can I use it outside?
Bright zinc plating gives light protection, so it is fine indoors and in dry voids. Outdoors or in damp plant rooms it will rust over time, so a galvanised or stainless fixing is the better pick there.
