Compression Elbow 8mm to 54mm

A compression elbow turns a pipe run through 90 degrees without any heat. We stock it in 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 22mm, 28mm, 35mm, 42mm and 54mm, so it covers everything from microbore heating to large bore mains. The 15mm compression elbow is the one most folk come in for, on radiator tails, basin feeds and toilet supplies. It suits plumbers, heating engineers and anyone doing a repair at home.

Both ends take the same size of copper tube. Cut the pipe square, take the burr off, slip the nut and olive on, push the pipe fully into the body and tighten. With no flame needed, it is a good choice under floors, inside kitchen units and next to anything that could catch. It can also be undone later if the run has to change.

Where would I use a compression elbow? Anywhere you need a right angle turn without heat, such as under floors, inside kitchen units or on radiator tails and basin feeds. We have it from 8mm microbore up to 54mm.

How do I fit a compression elbow? Cut the pipe square and deburr it, slide on the nut then the olive, push the pipe fully into the elbow and tighten. Hold the body with a second spanner and do not overtighten, then check for weeps once the water is on.

How tight should a compression elbow be? Do the nut up by hand, then give it a nip with a spanner while a second spanner holds the body still. If it weeps once filled, go a little further at a time, as cranking it hard squashes the olive.

What size compression elbow do I need for 15mm pipe? A 15mm one, as UK copper is sized on the outside and the fitting carries the same number. Old imperial 1/2 inch pipe is a touch bigger, so check before you buy.

Can I reuse a compression elbow? The body and nuts can go back on again. The olive gets crushed onto the pipe, so if you cut the pipe back you will want a fresh olive.
