Common Questions

Can two 45 degree elbows make an offset?

Yes. Two F x F 45s with a short threaded nipple between them step the pipe sideways, which is handy for clearing a beam or another pipe.

What sealant goes on galvanised threads?

PTFE tape or a thread sealant suited to what the pipe carries, applied to the male thread only. Make sure the sealant suits drinking water if it is a water main.

Can I connect galvanised fittings to copper?

It can be done with the right adaptor, but put the copper downstream of the galvanised where you can. Water passing over copper first can attack the zinc coating further down.
