Galvanised Munsen Ring with Base Plate 1/2 inch to 4 inch

A galvanised munsen ring with base plate is the standard way to hang steel pipe off a wall or ceiling. The ring clamps round the pipe, a threaded rod links it to the base plate, and the plate fixes to the structure.

That suits steel tube for heating, gas and sprinkler work, where pipe is ordered by bore rather than outside diameter. To fit one, fix the base plate, screw in a length of rod and thread the ring onto the bottom. Open the ring, drop the pipe in and close it with the screw. What is a munsen ring?

It is a hinged steel pipe ring with a threaded boss on top. A screw locks it shut on the pipe, and a rod into the plate lets you set the pipe at any height.

Does the 15mm ring fit 15mm copper?

The sizes here are steel pipe nominal bore, so the 1/2″ – 15mm ring is for half inch steel tube, which is bigger outside than 15mm copper. Measure the outside of your pipe before choosing.

How far apart should munsen rings be?

It depends on pipe size and material, with smaller pipe needing closer supports. Follow the spacing in the design or the pipe maker’s guidance for the job.
