A galvanised back plate fixes to a wall or ceiling and takes a threaded rod or stud, so you can hang a munsen ring or pipe clamp. Available with M10 or M12 threads. From Plumb Parts in Glasgow.

Every hanging pipe bracket needs a solid anchor, and a galvanised back plate is that anchor. It screws or bolts to the wall, ceiling or steelwork and takes a threaded rod or stud, which then carries the pipe ring.
What a galvanised back plate does
The plate spreads the load over a wider area than a single screw. So a heavy run of steel or copper pipe stays put, even when it is full of water. Fit a length of threaded rod into the plate and you can drop the pipe ring down to whatever height you need. The galvanised coating protects the steel against rust in plant rooms, basements and damp voids.
Match the thread to the boss on your pipe ring. M10 covers most small and medium rings, but bigger pipe often uses M12. Use fixings suited to the surface, such as anchors in concrete or coach screws in timber. Keep plates in a straight line so the pipe run stays level, and do not leave long rods unbraced on heavy pipe, because they can swing. Munsen rings are in our galvanised brackets range.

Common Questions
M10 or M12: which back plate do I need?
Match it to the thread in the boss of your pipe ring and to the rod you are using. Smaller rings tend to use M10, while heavier rings for larger pipe often take M12.
Can a back plate go on a plasterboard ceiling?
Not on its own. Fix it through into a joist or a proper support, as plasterboard will not carry a pipe full of water.
How long should the drop rod be?
Cut it to set the pipe at the height and fall you need, and keep long drops on heavy pipe to a minimum or brace them so the run cannot swing.
