Pumps and some valves have male threaded connections that take a loose nut, and the Geberit Mapress 316 Stainless Steel Adaptor with Union Nut is made to suit them. One end presses onto stainless pipe, and the other carries a union nut that spins freely.

The nut sizes often look large next to the pipe. That is because they are chosen to match the male threads on equipment rather than the pipe size. So measure or check the thread on the pump or valve before you order. Because the nut turns on its own, you can do it up without twisting the pressed joint. The pump can also come off later just by undoing the nut.
Press the adaptor onto the pipe first, after the usual square cut, deburr and depth mark. Then fit the correct sealing washer for the joint and tighten the nut. Common Questions
Why does the 22mm come with three different nut sizes?
The nut is sized to the thread on the pump or valve, not the pipe. That is why a 22mm pipe can need a 1″, 1.1/4″ or 1.1/2″ nut.
Do I need a washer in the union nut?
Yes, a loose nut connection seals on a flat washer between the faces. Use a new washer of the right size and material each time you remake it.
Is this suitable for a circulating pump on a heating system?
Yes, pump connections are a common use. Geberit approve Mapress 316 Stainless Steel for heating water up to 16 bar.
