Geberit Mapress Stainless Steel Gas Coupling 15mm to 108mm

The Mapress Stainless Gas Coupling is a plain straight connector for joining two lengths of Mapress stainless pipe on a gas installation, in sizes from 15mm to 108mm, for Gas Safe registered engineers. Each end is a press socket, with a stop in the middle so the pipe goes in to the right depth.

Geberit make it from CrNiMo 316 stainless steel 1.4401 to EN 10088, with yellow HNBR seal rings, yellow marking and yellow socket plugs. The range is listed for natural gas, liquefied gas and biogas. It is LABS-free, and the joint is made to leak until it is pressed, so the tightness test picks up anything left undone.

Cut square with a proper pipe cutter, not a hacksaw, and deburr inside and out. Mark the insertion depth on each pipe end so you can see nothing has moved before you press. Common Questions

How do I tell gas Mapress from water Mapress? Gas fittings are marked yellow with a yellow HNBR seal and yellow plugs. The water range has black seals and clear plugs, and must not be used on gas.

Why use a pipe cutter rather than a hacksaw? A cutter gives a square, clean end. A ragged hacksaw cut and burrs can damage the seal as the pipe goes in.

Does the Mapress Stainless Gas Coupling need the yellow plugs left in? Keep them in until you are ready to fit, so dust and swarf stay out of the seal.

Who can install Mapress gas fittings? Any work on a gas installation must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, including the tightness test.
