Geberit Mapress Stainless Steel Gas Street 45 Degree Elbow 15mm to 108mm

The Mapress Stainless Gas 45 Degree Street Elbow is a 45° bend with a press socket at one end and a plain end at the other, in sizes from 15mm to 108mm, for Gas Safe registered engineers on stainless gas pipework. Geberit call it a bend with plain end (gas).

The plain end goes straight into the socket of another fitting, which lets you build a close offset without a short stub of pipe. It is made from CrNiMo 316 stainless steel 1.4401 (EN 10088) with a yellow HNBR seal and yellow marking, and the datasheet lists natural gas, liquefied gas and biogas.

Mark the plain end for insertion depth like a length of pipe, then push it fully into the next fitting. Two street elbows together give a very short offset round a beam or clip. What is the plain end for? It is the same size as the pipe, so it goes into another fitting’s socket and is pressed there, saving a short piece of pipe and a joint.

Can I rotate the Mapress Stainless Gas 45 Degree Street Elbow after pressing? No. Set the angle before you press, because a pressed joint is fixed.

How do I tell gas Mapress from water Mapress? Gas fittings are marked yellow with a yellow HNBR seal and yellow plugs. The water range has black seals and clear plugs, and must not be used on gas.

Who can install Mapress gas fittings? Any work on a gas installation must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, including the tightness test.
