This thermostatic mixing valve 22mm blends hot and cold to a steady outlet temperature. Use it on baths, basins and single point showers to cut scald risk. From Plumb Parts in Glasgow.
A thermostatic mixing valve 22mm blends hot and cold water to a set temperature and holds it there, even if the supply changes. It is one of the simplest ways to cut the risk of scalding at an outlet.
Where to use this thermostatic mixing valve 22mm
It suits sinks, wash basins, baths, bidets, single point showers and hair wash sprays. It also works on domestic hot water systems, where the cylinder is kept hot but the water at the taps needs to be cooler. So it is a common fit in homes with children or older people, and in care settings.
- Size: 22mm
- Blends hot and cold to a set outlet temperature
- Temperature comes pre-set and can be adjusted on site
- Protective caps on the ports until fitting
Flush the pipework before fitting, because debris in the cartridge is the main reason mixing valves stop working well. Fit isolating valves and strainers on the inlets if the valve does not have them, so it can be serviced. Check the hot and cold go to the right ports. Then set the outlet temperature with a thermometer at the tap, and record it for the next service.

Common Questions
What is the difference between a mixing valve and a thermostatic mixing valve?
A plain mixer blends hot and cold to whatever the handle is set at. A thermostatic valve senses the outlet water and keeps it at the set temperature when supply pressures or temperatures change.
Can I adjust the outlet temperature on this 22mm TMV?
Yes, it comes pre-set and can be adjusted on site. Check the result with a thermometer at the outlet, not by hand.
How often should a TMV be checked?
Check it at least once a year, and more often in care homes and schools. Debris in the cartridge is the main cause of drift.
