For larger runs, Polyplumb Polybutylene Barrier Pipe 28mm gives you the flow of 28mm copper in a flexible grey polybutylene pipe. Straight lengths come in 1m, 2m and 3m.

Where 28mm Polyplumb polybutylene barrier pipe gets used

This size suits heating primaries on bigger systems, main hot and cold distribution in larger homes, and the supply into an underfloor heating manifold where the flow demands more than 22mm. Like the rest of the Polyplumb barrier range, the pipe has an oxygen barrier layer within its wall to keep oxygen out of heating water.

Keep it off gas, oil, compressed air and solar circuits, and don’t use it on primary or gravity pipework from a solid fuel back boiler.

The 28mm lengths are collection only. 28mm also comes in 25m and 50m coils.

28mm polybutylene is stiffer than the smaller sizes, so let it relax in a warm room before you try to form gentle curves, and use fittings rather than forcing tight bends. Cut square with a cutter big enough for 28mm. Always fit a stiffener before pushing the pipe into a Polyplumb fitting, and check it has gone in to the full depth.
