Description

If the water pressure in a house is high enough to bang pipes or make taps spit, a pressure reducing valve 22/15mm is a simple answer. It takes the incoming supply and passes a lower, steadier pressure to the rest of the pipework.

Using a pressure reducing valve 22/15mm

The valve has a pressure gauge, so you can see the setting as you adjust it. Fit it on the cold main after the stopcock, and everything after it runs at a sensible pressure. That means less wear on cistern valves, taps and appliances, and less water wasted. It is for drinking water supplies.

  • Size: 22/15mm
  • Pressure gauge included
  • Adjustable outlet pressure
  • For potable cold water mains

Check the connections on the valve against your pipe before you cut in, so you have the right ends for the job. Flush the pipe through first, because grit is what usually stops a reducing valve holding. Follow the arrow for flow direction. Then set the outlet with a tap open and check it holds once the tap is closed.

Common Questions

What does 22/15mm mean on this valve?

It is listed for 22mm and 15mm pipe connections. Check the ends on the valve against your pipe before you cut into the main.

Do I need a pressure reducing valve at all?

If high pressure makes taps spit, pipes bang or cistern valves wear out quickly, a reducing valve helps. It is also needed when an appliance states a maximum inlet pressure.

How long does a reducing valve last?

Kept free of grit, it can run for many years without attention. A strainer before the valve and a flush of the main before fitting make the biggest difference.
