Rothenberger Adjustable Pipe Wrench, 7 inch. A small pipe wrench whose hardened jaws bite harder as you pull, for gripping pipe and fittings in tight spots. Plumb Parts, Glasgow, has these.
The 7 inch Rothenberger Adjustable Pipe Wrench is the compact size of this traditional plumber’s wrench. As you pull on the handle, the jaw grips the pipe tighter, so it holds round work that a spanner would slip on.
Using a Rothenberger adjustable pipe wrench at 7 inch
A 7 inch wrench suits small pipe, fittings and nuts, and it fits into places a big wrench will not. Think under sinks, inside cupboards and behind radiators. A hardened fulcrum bolt makes the gripping action work, and the teeth are induction hardened so they keep biting over time.
- Brand: Rothenberger
- Size: 7 inch
- Self-tightening grip under pressure
- Induction hardened teeth
Set the jaw so it just fits round the work, then pull in the direction the jaw faces. The teeth will mark the surface, so use a cloth or a strap wrench on chrome and soft brass. Do not use a pipe wrench on hex nuts you want to keep tidy. Keep the teeth clean of dirt and grease for a good bite. The 9 inch size and other wrenches are in our wrenches section.

Common Questions
What jobs suit a 7 inch pipe wrench?
Small threaded fittings, short nipples and pipe in cramped spots where a longer wrench will not swing. It also fits in a small tool bag.
Will a pipe wrench mark the pipe?
Yes, the teeth bite to grip. On chrome or visible copper, use a strap wrench or wrap the pipe.
Which way should I pull the wrench?
Pull towards the open side of the jaw, so the jaw tightens as you turn. Pulling the other way lets it slip.
