The RWC pressure reducing valve 42mm has 1 1/2 inch male BSP connections. It steadies high incoming pressure on big supplies. Order it from Plumb Parts in Glasgow.
On a large incoming main, the RWC pressure reducing valve 42mm takes high mains pressure down to a level the building can live with. The valve has 1 1/2 inch male BSP connections and suits 42mm pipework with the right adaptors.
Where the RWC pressure reducing valve 42mm is used
This size is for commercial buildings, schools, blocks of flats and other big supplies. Too much pressure there means noise, leaks at joints and wear on valves and appliances. A reducing valve near the point of entry sets a steady pressure for the whole system. That also helps when water heaters or equipment have a maximum inlet pressure.
- Made by RWC
- Suits 42mm pipework
- 1 1/2 inch male BSP connections
- For large incoming water supplies
Plan for maintenance. Isolating valves either side and a strainer ahead of the valve make life much easier later. You will need female adaptors to go from the 1 1/2 inch male threads onto 42mm copper or plastic. Seal the threads well, follow the flow arrow, and set the outlet pressure with water flowing.

Common Questions
What is a pressure reducing valve? It takes high or changing mains pressure and gives you a steady, lower pressure on the outlet side. That protects taps, appliances and pipework downstream.
Do I need a pressure reducing valve? If your mains pressure is high or swings about, or an appliance or cylinder has a maximum inlet pressure, a PRV is the usual fix. Banging pipes and splashing taps are common signs.
What connections does this RWC valve have? It has 1 1/2 inch male BSP connections. The RWC code is PRED315050.
How do I install a pressure reducing valve? Fit it with the arrow pointing the way the water flows, and put isolating valves either side so it can be serviced later. A strainer before it keeps grit away from the seat.
How do I adjust a pressure reducing valve? Use a pressure gauge on the outlet side and turn the adjuster until you reach the pressure you want, then check it with a tap running. Follow the RWC instructions for the exact method.
Does a pressure reducing valve reduce flow? Its job is to lower pressure, though you may see a little drop in flow at busy times. Choosing a valve sized for the pipe, like this one on a 42mm main, keeps losses down.
