Made in copper, the Solder Ring Elbow 45 Deg is a bend that changes direction by 45 degrees. That gives an included angle of 135 degrees, which is why it is called obtuse. Both ends have a built in Solder Ring.
When to use a Solder Ring Elbow 45 Deg
Use it for offsets round a beam, sets along a wall, or to ease a run gently towards a fitting. Two Elbow 45 Degs make a neat dogleg. A gentler bend also means less resistance to flow than a tight 90, which helps on long heating runs. The larger sizes up to 54mm suit mains in plant rooms and commercial buildings.
- Sizes: 15mm, 22mm, 28mm, 35mm, 42mm and 54mm
- Copper, 45 degree change of direction
- Solder Ring in both sockets
- Equal ends
Dry fit the pipes first to check the angle lines up with where the run is going. Then take it apart, clean, flux and reassemble. Heat until you see a full silver ring at each end, then leave it to cool without moving. Wipe off spare flux when cool. Other bends are under Solder Ring Fittings.

Common Questions
What angle is an Elbow 45 Deg?
It turns the pipe through 45 degrees, so the angle between the two legs is 135 degrees. That is why it is called obtuse.
Why use two Elbow 45 Degs instead of a 90?
Two 45s with a short pipe between them give a gentler turn. Flow is smoother and pipes can be set out round an obstacle neatly.
How do I stop the elbow moving while it cools?
Support the pipes so nothing pulls on the joint, and do not knock it until the solder has set. A joint moved while cooling can look fine but leak later.
