A Stopcock DZR Compression x Compression is a screw down stop valve made from DZR brass, with Compression joints at both ends. DZR stands for dezincification resistant, meaning the brass is made to stand up to water that would eat away ordinary brass.
Why choose a Stopcock DZR Compression x Compression
Some water supplies and ground conditions slowly pull the zinc out of standard brass. The fitting turns pink, goes porous and starts to weep. DZR brass resists that. So it is the sensible pick for buried stopcocks, valves in chambers, and any area where dezincification is a known problem.
- Sizes: 15mm, 22mm, 28mm, 35mm, 42mm and 54mm
- DZR brass body
- Compression ends
- Screw down head with flow arrow
The larger sizes from 35mm to 54mm suit commercial mains and plant rooms, so make sure your spanners are big enough. Fit with the arrow pointing downstream. If it goes in a chamber, wrap any buried copper and leave space to get a key on the head. Other stopcocks are listed in Valves and Control Devices.

Common Questions
Why does a stopcock need to be DZR?
Ordinary brass can lose its zinc in some water, leaving the fitting weak and porous. DZR brass resists that, so it suits buried pipe and areas with aggressive water.
Where is the 35mm to 54mm range used?
Larger stopcocks suit commercial buildings, blocks of flats and big supply pipes. A house supply is more often 15mm, 22mm or 28mm.
How do I replace a stopcock?
Turn off at the outside stop valve, drain the pipe, and undo the old stopcock’s nuts. Fit the new one with new olives if the old ones are damaged, with the flow arrow pointing the right way.
