About the Vision 25S system boiler

A system boiler works with a hot water cylinder, so several taps and showers can run together. That suits houses with two bathrooms or an en suite. The Vision 25S is compact enough for a kitchen cupboard, has frost protection built in, and offers a low temperature setting for underfloor heating. Its standard Vokera pipework layout makes it simpler to replace an older Vokera model.

Common Questions

How long can the horizontal boiler flue be? The maximum length is set out in Vokera’s installation manual, and each extra bend uses up part of it. Check that before you settle on where the boiler goes.

How far can you extend a boiler flue? You can add extensions up to the limit in the manual, using the flue parts approved for this boiler. Your Gas Safe engineer will confirm it works for your spot.

Who can install the Vokera Vision 25S? It has to be fitted, commissioned and registered by a Gas Safe registered engineer. It runs on natural gas only.

Do I need a hot water cylinder with this boiler? Yes, as a system boiler it heats a stored cylinder as well as the radiators. An unvented cylinder gives mains pressure hot water, or a vented one works if you already have a cold tank.

Will I still need a tank in the loft? Not for the heating, as the pump and an 8 litre expansion vessel are built in. On a bigger system, check that vessel is enough for the water volume.

Should I choose the 25S or the 20S? A heat loss calculation should decide it. The 25S suits larger homes or more radiators, while the 20S is for smaller properties.

What pipe sizes does it connect to? Flow, return and gas are all 22mm. Add a magnetic filter, inhibitor and suitable controls when it goes in.

What Glasgow fitters should check

Size the boiler from the heat loss of the house and the cylinder it will heat. Measure the outside wall for the flue, as thick walls may need an extension. You will also need a cylinder, a programmer and valves to suit, so list them before ordering. Check the gas supply is up to size. A Gas Safe registered engineer has to install and commission the boiler and flue.
