Largest of these barrier coils, the Hep2O Barrier Pipe Coil 28mm is polybutylene pipe with an oxygen barrier layer, coiled in 25m or 50m.
28mm usually means the main heating flow and return in a larger house, the primary run from boiler to cylinder, or a bigger cold main where 22mm will not carry the flow. The barrier layer keeps oxygen out of a heating circuit, and barrier pipe can also be used for domestic hot and cold water. A coil lets you run long distances in one piece, with no joints hidden under the floor.
Hep2O Barrier Pipe Coil 28mm sizes
- 28mm x 25m for a single long run or smaller job
- 28mm x 50m for whole-system primaries
- Push Fit jointing, with a 28mm SmartSleeve in the pipe end
At this diameter, a decent pair of cutters makes a big difference. Make the cut square on a ‘^’ mark, remove any burr, and put a 28mm Hep2O SmartSleeve in before jointing. Push hard and steadily, feel for the joint seating, then tug back. Support the pipe well, especially on a heating primary where it carries hot water and will move a little as it expands. Use an inhibitor in the system.
Not for gas, oil or buried supply pipes. Fittings to match are in our Hep2O pipe range.

Common Questions
When does a job need 28mm instead of 22mm?
Bigger houses with lots of radiators, long primary runs and some larger boilers need the extra bore. The boiler or heat loss figures will tell you, so check before buying.
Is a 28mm Push Fit joint hard to make?
It takes a firmer, steadier push than the small sizes. Keep the pipe straight as it goes in, and pull back afterwards to check it has locked.
Can I hide 28mm Hep2O under a floor?
Yes, a continuous coil under a floor is where it works best. Try to keep joints out of places you cannot get back to.
