Catering Hose Coupler 1/2 inch to 1 inch

A gas catering flex hose is normally joined to the supply with a quick release joint, and a Catering Hose Coupler is that joint. It lets a commercial cooker, fryer or grill be disconnected and moved safely for cleaning.

Catering hose coupler sizes

Match the coupler to the size of the catering hose. Bigger appliances such as ranges and large fryers usually run on bigger hoses, so check what is fitted before ordering.

Commercial kitchens get deep cleaned often. Without a quick release, staff would either work round the appliance or need an engineer each time. With a coupler, the hose can be released and the appliance rolled out, then reconnected afterwards.

Fitting is a job for a Gas Safe registered engineer. On catering equipment, they also need the right commercial qualifications. Fit a restraint lanyard as well, shorter than the hose, so the hose never takes the strain when the appliance is pulled forward. Check couplers and hoses at each service for wear or damage.

Common Questions

Does the coupler size have to match the hose?

Yes. Use the 1/2″, 3/4″ or 1″ coupler that matches the catering hose and the supply pipe.

Can kitchen staff disconnect the coupler for cleaning?

Quick release couplings are made so the appliance can be disconnected for cleaning, but the gas installation itself must be fitted and tested by a Gas Safe registered engineer with commercial catering qualifications.

Is a lanyard needed as well as a coupler?

Yes. Fit a restraint that runs out of slack before the hose does, so pulling the appliance out loads the lanyard and not the gas connection.
