JG Speedfit Barrier Pipe Straight 15mm x 6m (15BPEX-20X6L): a 6m straight length of white 15mm PE-X barrier pipe with a blue oxygen barrier, for long, neat water and heating runs. Joins with Speedfit push-fit fittings and 15mm inserts. Pick it up from our Glasgow counter at 555 South Street G14 0QX.
The JG Speedfit Barrier Pipe Straight 15mm x 6m is a 6 metre straight length of 15mm PE-X barrier pipe, code 15BPEX-20X6L, for plumbers and heating engineers running long, tidy 15mm runs on radiators and hot and cold water.
Fifteen millimetre is the everyday size: rad flow and return, basin and sink feeds, cistern supplies. A 6m length crosses a room or a loft with no joint, and a straight length sits neater along a skirting or a garage wall than pipe pulled off a coil. The wall has five layers with a blue oxygen barrier in the centre, and the pipe is made to BS 7291.
The JG Speedfit Barrier Pipe Straight 15mm x 6m joins with 15mm Speedfit push-fit fittings and a 15mm insert in every end, or a standard insert into compression valves and tap connectors. Clip it every 300mm on horizontal surface runs and every 500mm on vertical ones, as plastic droops when warm. A long length needs care getting through a house, so a second pair of hands helps. Elbows, tees and clips are in our JG Speedfit fittings range.

Common Questions
How tight can I bend it? Held with clips either side of the curve, the smallest radius Speedfit give for 15mm PE-X is 175mm. Go tighter than that and you should fit an elbow. Never heat the pipe to help it bend.
Does plastic pipe expand when it’s hot? Yes, by about 1% of its length as it warms from 20°C to 82°C. On long exposed runs that can show as sagging between clips, so clip at the right spacing or box the run in.
How much heat will 15mm pipe carry? Speedfit’s sizing table puts 15mm at about 5.9kW, based on a flow speed of 1.2m/s and an 11°C drop. Use that as a rough guide when you plan how many radiators a run can feed.
What’s the difference between PE-X and polybutylene? Both are Speedfit barrier pipe and use the same fittings and inserts. Polybutylene is softer and the Layflat coil lies flat off the roll, while PE-X is a bit stiffer, which helps it look straighter on exposed runs.
