This Hep2O Barrier Pipe Coil is the 10mm microbore size: polybutylene pipe with an oxygen barrier, in 25m, 50m or 100m coils.
10mm is mostly used on microbore heating, where small pipes run to each radiator, often from a manifold or a larger main. It is handy for replacing old microbore copper that has kinked or furred up, and its small size makes it easy to hide in skirting voids and shallow notches.
Hep2O barrier pipe coil sizes in 10mm
- 10mm x 25m for a few radiators
- 10mm x 50m for most microbore systems
- 10mm x 100m for full replacements or larger jobs
Microbore pipe has a small bore, so flow matters. Keep runs sensible in length and avoid tight kinks. Cut squarely at a printed ‘^’ mark, deburr, and fit a 10mm SmartSleeve into the end before it goes into the Push Fit fitting. Connecting to existing 10mm copper is common on these jobs, so check you have the right adaptors and sleeves before you start. Use an inhibitor on heating.
Not for gas, oil or buried supply pipes. The rest of the system is in our Hep2O pipe range.

Common Questions
How many radiators will a 25m coil of 10mm do?
It depends on how far each radiator sits from the manifold or main. As a rough guide, measure flow and return to each one and add them up, then add a bit for waste. Many small flats get by on 25m, and a house usually needs 50m or more.
Can 10mm Hep2O replace kinked microbore copper?
Yes. Cut back to sound copper, use a 10mm Hep2O fitting to join, and run the new pipe through. It snakes round joists far more easily than copper did.
Do I still need inhibitor with barrier pipe?
Yes. The barrier keeps oxygen from getting through the pipe wall, but the water still needs inhibitor to protect the boiler, pump and radiators.
