What Speedfit PEX Barrier Pipe 28mm is for

28mm turns up on bigger heating systems, primary circuits and larger cold water feeds in bigger houses or light commercial jobs. Like the smaller sizes, it’s John Guest’s PE-X pipe with an oxygen barrier, made to BS 7291 Class S, for hot and cold water and central heating. It joins with JG Speedfit Push Fit fittings.

At 28mm the pipe is fairly rigid, so don’t expect it to bend round tight corners like 15mm. Plan for elbows. A 28mm Speedfit insert goes in every cut end before jointing. Use a cutter big enough for 28mm, keep the end square and clean, and push it fully into the fitting. Support it well along the run.
