This Copper Pipe Coil 8mm x 10m is a roll of soft 8mm microbore, and it is the easiest way to run small feeds or replace a section of old 8mm heating pipe without breaking up floors for joints.
8mm coil turns up on older microbore heating systems, especially single radiator drops from a manifold, and on small water or gauge lines. Coiled tube is supplied in the soft (annealed) condition, so it bends by hand round corners and through notches, which straight half-hard tube won’t do. Ten metres is enough for a radiator or two, or a decent length of repair.
Fitting a copper pipe coil 8mm x 10m
Roll the coil out along the floor instead of pulling loops off the side, or you’ll end up with a twisted, kinked pipe. Straighten the bit you need by running it through your hands. At 8mm the pipe crushes very easily, so cut with a small pipe slice, and deburr. 8mm Compression fittings and reducers up to 10mm or 15mm will tie it into the rest of the system. Clip it often so it doesn’t sag, and sleeve it where it passes through walls.
Older 8mm systems are fussy about sludge. If you’re working on one, it’s worth flushing the system and adding inhibitor before you refill.
- 8mm Compression fittings and olives
- Reducers to 10mm or 15mm
- Pipe clips and a mini cutter
We also cut 8mm in straight lengths for exposed tails. See the rest of our copper pipe selection.

Common Questions
How do I straighten a copper pipe coil? Roll the coil out along the floor rather than pulling loops off the side, then straighten the bit you need by running it through your hands. Pulling it off sideways twists the tube and kinks it.
Can I bend 8mm coiled copper by hand? Yes, it’s soft annealed, so it bends by hand round corners and through notches. Straight half-hard tube won’t do that.
What should I cut 8mm copper coil with? A small pipe slice or mini cutter, then deburr the end. A hacksaw tends to squash soft tube out of round.
Can I use push-fit fittings on 8mm copper? Yes, but use support inserts, as the thin wall crushes easily. 8mm compression fittings and reducers also tie it into the rest of the system.
How do I know my old pipe is really 8mm? Measure the outside diameter carefully, as 8mm and 10mm look much the same under paint. It’s worth checking before you buy.
Is a 10m coil enough to move a radiator? Usually, as it covers a flow and return to one radiator on most moves. Measure the route both ways first, allowing for bends.
