Arctic Spray 500ml

Arctic Spray 500ml is a can of pipe freezing spray that turns the water inside a pipe into a solid ice plug. That lets you work on one section of a live system without draining the lot.

Using Arctic Spray 500ml on a repair

Typical jobs are swapping a leaking valve, fitting a new tee, or replacing a split section of pipe. The spray chills the pipe hard, so the water locks solid and holds back the pressure behind it. You then cut and make your joint on the dry side. When the work is done, leave the plug to thaw on its own and the flow returns.

A few points from the counter. Water has to be still to freeze, so switch off the heating pump and close any open taps first. Freeze on a straight run, well clear of the joint you plan to solder. Wear gloves and eye protection, because the spray can burn skin. Never heat the frozen section to hurry it along, as that can split the pipe.
