Common Questions

What does M x F mean on an elbow union?

One end has a male thread and the other a female, so it can screw straight into a fitting on one side and onto a pipe end on the other. That saves a nipple compared with an F x F union.

Can an elbow union be reused?

Yes, that is the point of a union. Keep the faces clean and undamaged, and do not over-tighten the nut when you put it back.

Is a union allowed on a gas line?

Unions are used on gas pipework where the rules allow, usually at appliances and meters. The installation must be done and tested by a Gas Safe engineer.
