The black malleable iron reducing nipple (male x male) screws into two female fittings of different sizes. We hold 19 sizes, from 1/4″ x 1/8″ up to 2.1/2″ x 2″.

When do I need a reducing nipple?

Whenever two female fittings of different sizes must meet directly, for instance a 3/4″ tee going to a 1/2″ valve. You avoid needing a bush and a separate nipple.

Is a reducing nipple better than a nipple and bush?

It does the job in a single piece, which gives you one thread fewer to seal and a shorter run, so the finished joint is more compact.

How do I grip a reducing nipple?

There is a hex section in the middle for a spanner, so you do not mark it with grips. Hold the fitting it goes into with a second wrench.
