The Blue Lever Ball Valve Compression is a quarter-turn shut-off valve with Compression ends for copper or plastic pipe. The blue lever marks it as a water valve, so nobody mistakes it for a gas valve in a plant room or under a sink.
Sizes of Blue Lever Ball Valve Compression
15mm and 22mm suit house supplies, for example after the stop cock, on a cylinder feed or to isolate a kitchen or bathroom. 28mm suits larger houses and small commercial supplies. 35mm, 42mm and 54mm are for commercial mains, plant rooms and risers.
A ball valve opens fully and shuts off quickly, and it seals well against mains pressure. Make each joint with a new olive and hold the valve body steady while you tighten. Leave clearance for the lever to swing through its full quarter turn. With the lever parallel to the pipe it is open; at right angles it is shut.

Common Questions
Why is the lever blue?
Blue marks it as a water valve. In a plant room full of pipes, colour coding stops someone shutting the wrong service.
Lever ball valve or gate valve on a 22mm main?
A ball valve shuts in a quarter turn and seals well against mains pressure. A gate valve is slower and can let by when it gets old, so most fitters now pick a lever ball valve.
How do I fit the 54mm size?
The big sizes need a large spanner on the nut and a second holding the valve body. Use new olives and make sure the pipe is cut square, as there is no forgiveness at that bore.
