Description

Brass Hose Connector

Brass Hose Connector predominantly used to connect pneumatic, LPG and water lines.

Brass Fittings

Brass is one of the most common materials used for making fittings, as a construction material is an alloy (primarily) of copper and zinc.

Brass fittings are in high demand because of some inherent properties which make them superior to other materials and are suitable for carrying water, gases, chemicals, fire sprinkler systems, etc. Brass and DZR fittings are designed and manufactured in sizes ranging from 1/8″ to 4″.

They are made with BSP threads to BS EN 10226-1 (formerly BS 21, ISO 7/1).

Most brass threaded fittings are hot forged, giving them greater strength to weight ratio.
Fittings made of brass are available in a wide variety of shapes and thread sizes to connect, control any air or liquid flow in a pipe or tube.

Brass fittings are used in industrial, automotive, and truck applications because they are strong and durable.
The advantages of brass for fittings include its good corrosive resistance, and also it’s plating, joining, polishing and finishing characteristics.

Brass as a material is easily machined and so can be given any shapes of the various types of fittings available.

 • Relative Softness of Metal Provides for a Tight Seal and Ease of Installation.
 • Brass provides a more solid platform (vs. plastics) to facilitate the flow of air and liquids.
 • Brass fittings have excellent high-temperature ductility and reasonable cold ductility.

Common Questions

What is a brass hose connector used for? It joins a hose onto a supply line. It’s mainly used on water, air and LPG lines, and it comes in 1/4 inch to 1 inch.

What size hose connector do I need? Match it to the thread or bore you’re connecting to, not just the hose. If you’re unsure, bring the old fitting along and compare it before you buy.

Are brass hose connectors better than plastic? Brass is tougher, copes better with knocks and heat, and holds a thread well, so it tends to outlast plastic. Plastic is lighter and cheaper but can crack, especially in frost.

Why do brass fittings leak? Usually it’s a worn or missing washer, a thread that’s not been sealed, or a joint that’s been cross-threaded or overtightened. Check those first before blaming the fitting itself.

How do I remove a stuck brass hose connector? Turn off the supply and release any pressure first. Hold the pipe or tap with one spanner and turn the connector with another so you don’t strain the joint behind it.

Can I use it on an LPG line? It’s listed for LPG use, but gas connections should be made and tested by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
