A button and handle flush valve that can be worked by a push button or a lever handle. Adjustable flush volume, internal overflow and fresh bolts, seals and doughnut washer included. Supplied by Plumb Parts in Glasgow.
A button and handle flush valve gives you a choice of how the toilet is flushed: with a push button through the lid or a lever handle on the front of the cistern. That makes it a useful repair part when you are not sure which setup the customer wants.
Why fit a button and handle flush valve
Older cisterns with a front handle can be updated with a modern valve without changing the cistern. Equally, a button-operated cistern can be repaired the same day. The flush volume adjusts to suit the pan, and the internal overflow sends any excess water into the toilet.
- Works by push button or lever handle
- Adjustable flush volume
- Internal overflow
- New bolts, seals, nuts and doughnut washer included
Close the isolating valve, flush, and sponge the cistern dry. On a close coupled toilet, the cistern has to come off the pan. Clean the china, fit the valve and the new doughnut washer, then bolt the cistern back on, tightening the nuts evenly side to side.
Connect either the button or the handle linkage, set the flush volume and test it a few times. Check under the cistern for drips once it has refilled.
Handles and buttons for other cisterns are in our cistern fittings range.

Common Questions
Can I change a lever handle cistern over to a push button?
Only if the lid has a hole for a button, or can take one. This valve works either way, so an older cistern can keep its handle while a newer lid uses the button.
How do I change the flush volume?
The valve has an adjustment for how much water goes down. Set it so the pan clears properly on a full flush, then try it a few times, as too little water leaves paper behind.
Does the cistern have to come off the pan to fit it?
On a close coupled toilet it does, because the valve is held by a backnut under the cistern. That is why the pack includes new bolts, seals and a doughnut washer.
