Cut with a sharp pipe cutter, using light pressure and plenty of turns so the chrome doesn’t flake at the cut. Wrap tape round the pipe where a bender or grips will touch it, and use a cloth in the spanner jaws on chrome nuts. If a joint must be soldered, clean the plating back to copper where the fitting goes and expect some discolouring near the heat. Plan the run carefully before cutting, because every mark and spare hole will be on view. Matching chrome clips finish the job off.
