Copper Pipe Coil 4mm x 10m, soft copper tube with a 0.6mm wall to BS EN 12449, for gauge and sensor lines, small fuel feeds and workshop jobs. Takes 4mm compression fittings; not a radiator pipe size. Collect it from our Glasgow shop at 555 South Street G14 0QX.
This Copper Pipe Coil 4mm x 10m is the smallest copper we sell: soft tube with a 4mm outside diameter and a 0.6mm wall, about 2.8mm bore, for engineers and fitters running gauge and sensor lines, small fuel feeds on appliances and workshop jobs. If you are here for radiator pipe, you probably want the 8mm or 10mm microbore instead.
Unlike the usual plumbing sizes, which are made to BS EN 1057, this tube is made to BS EN 12449, the general engineering copper tube standard, in the soft temper. It is listed for water and gas use, but for any gas job follow the appliance maker’s instructions and use a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Uncoil it slowly by rolling, as thin tube kinks very easily. Use a mini tube cutter, not a saw or snips, then clear the bore of burrs. Use proper 4mm compression fittings with olives sized for it, and bend round your finger or a small former rather than forcing sharp corners. For more flow, step up to the 6mm, 8mm or 10mm coils in our copper pipe coil section, next to the Copper Pipe Coil 4mm x 10m.

Common Questions
What is 4mm copper tube used for? Gauge lines, sensor and capillary lines, small fuel and pilot feeds on appliances and general engineering work. It is too small for heating or water supply runs.
Is 4mm copper the same standard as plumbing pipe? No. It is made to BS EN 12449 for general engineering, while the usual plumbing sizes are made to BS EN 1057.
What fittings fit 4mm copper? Use 4mm compression fittings with olives made for 4mm tube. Plumbing fittings for microbore start at 6mm, so they will not fit.
