How chrome radiator pipe covers are fitted

The covers slide or clip over the pipe without draining the system. Cut them to length so they run from the floor plate up to the valve. It is an easy upgrade that makes a bathroom or living room look finished.

Measure each pipe from floor to valve and cut the cover with a fine-tooth hacksaw or pipe cutter. File off the burr so it does not scratch the chrome. Fit floor plates at the bottom for a full finish.

Wipe with a soft cloth to clean, and avoid bleach or abrasive pads.

If the pipes are close to the wall, check the covers have room to sit straight before you cut them. Fit them after any painting is done, so they stay clean. On a pair of pipes, cut both covers to the same height so they line up neatly under the valves. A small dab of clear silicone at the top can stop a loose cover sliding down the pipe over time.

How many radiators will a pack cover?

There are three 1m lengths in the pack. Two pipes per radiator are usually much shorter than a metre, so one pack can often do more than one radiator once cut.

Do I need to drain the heating to fit them?

No. The covers go over the existing pipes, so the system stays full while you work.

What is the best way to cut them?
