When a 1m length of Climaflex pipe insulation suits

Think of radiator tails, the pipes under a kitchen sink, or the last stretch to an outside tap. A metre is easier to carry up a loft ladder and leaves less waste on small jobs. It is also handy for patching gaps on a run that was lagged years ago and has gone missing in places.

To fit it on pipe that is already in, run a knife down one side and open it over the pipe. Close the slit with tape or glue so it stays shut. Tape it to any old lagging it meets, because gaps at joins let frost in. Keep it clear of flue pipes and anything that runs very hot.
