A compression wall plate elbow screws to the wall and turns copper pipe through 90 degrees to a threaded outlet that is held firm on its plate. Our new site lists the Compression Wall Plate Elbow in 15mm x 1/2″ and 22mm x 3/4″. Our current site lists the chrome plated male version in 15mm x 3/4″. They suit plumbers and DIY fitters putting in a tap, hose or appliance connection where the outlet has to stay put.
The pipe side is a compression joint. Cut the tube square, take off the burr, slide on the nut and olive, push the tube home and tighten. Fix the plate to the wall first, with plugs in masonry or onto a timber noggin in a stud wall. Then make the pipe joint, so the fitting isn’t hanging off the pipe. In each size the first figure is the pipe size and the second is the thread on the outlet. The chrome finish on the 15mm x 3/4″ male version looks tidy where it will be on show.
We stock these at our Glasgow counter, so you can call in for one and get the job finished the same day.

Common Questions
How do you fit a compression elbow?
Cut the pipe square and deburr it, then slide on the nut and the olive. Push the pipe fully into the fitting and tighten the nut firmly, but don’t overdo it or the olive will crush.
What do the two sizes on a wall plate elbow mean?
The first figure is the pipe it takes, such as 15mm copper. The second is the size of the threaded outlet, such as 1/2″ or 3/4″, which must match the tap, hose or connector going on it.
Do I need PTFE tape on the outlet thread?
Not if the hose or connector seals with its own washer, as tape can stop the washer sitting flat. Where a thread seals on the thread itself, a few wraps of PTFE is the normal way.
How should the wall plate be fixed?
Screw it to solid masonry with wall plugs, or to a timber noggin in a stud wall. Fix the plate before you make the pipe joint so nothing is pulling on the compression nut.
