Common Questions

What is a reducing elbow? It’s a 90 degree fitting with different sizes at each end. This one joins a 22mm pipe to a 15mm pipe round a corner.

Do elbows reduce water flow? Every bend adds a little resistance, and dropping from 22mm to 15mm narrows the pipe too. On a normal domestic run it’s rarely noticeable, but avoid piling up lots of tight bends.

Can I use compression fittings on chrome pipe? Yes, if it’s chrome-plated copper of the correct outside size. Get the olive seated evenly and it will grip fine.

Can I reuse a compression fitting? The body can usually be reused, but swap the olive for a new one if you’re going onto different pipe.

Does it come with olives? It’s a compression fitting made up with a nut and olive on each end, ready to go on the pipe.

Is it suitable for plastic pipe? It takes copper, or plastic pipe as long as you fit a pipe insert first.
