In plain terms, the Compression DZR Straight Tap Connector joins copper pipe straight onto a threaded tap tail, Compression on the bottom and a swivel nut on top. Being DZR brass, it resists the dezincification that can eat away at standard brass fittings over time.
What it is used for
When the supply comes straight up underneath the tap, this is the fitting you want. It is common on bath taps, kitchen mixers with rigid tails, and older basin taps. The swivel nut means you can tighten onto the tail without twisting the pipe, and the Compression end lets you make a final adjustment in pipe length before you nip it up. The larger size suits 3/4″ bath taps and other fittings with 3/4″ male tails.
Sizes available
- 15mm x 1/2″ for basin and sink taps
- 22mm x 3/4″ for bath taps and other 3/4″ tails
Fitting tips from our Glasgow trade counter
Measure twice. The tube needs to go fully into the Compression end, so allow for the socket depth when you cut. Seal the tap end with a fibre washer and keep the PTFE off that thread. If the tap has flexible tails instead of a threaded body, you will want an isolating valve or a different connector, so check before you head out.
Worth adding a couple of spare fibre washers to the order. The bent pattern, for awkward runs, sits beside the Compression DZR Straight Tap Connector in our Compression DZR fittings.
Buy it online, or from the Plumb Parts shop at 555 South Street, Glasgow G14 0QX. It trades Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, with Sat-Sun 8am-1pm at weekends.

Common Questions
DZR straight tap connector: which size for a kitchen mixer?
If the mixer has rigid threaded tails, it is usually 1/2″, so the 15mm x 1/2″ fits. Many modern mixers use flexible tails instead, which need a different connection.
Why does the tap nut weep after tightening?
Most often the washer is missing, doubled up or sitting skew. Undo it, seat a fresh washer flat and tighten again.
Do I cut the pipe before or after offering it up?
Offer the connector up to the tap first and mark the pipe, allowing for the depth it goes into the Compression end. Then cut square.
