Compression DZR Wallplate Elbow 15mm

For outside taps and similar jobs, the Compression DZR Wallplate Elbow is a 90 degree fitting with a fixing plate, taking 15mm copper on the Compression end and giving you a 1/2″ female thread to screw a tap or outlet into. It is made in DZR brass, so it resists dezincification, a sensible choice for a fitting that can sit outdoors or behind a wall for years.

What it is used for

Outside taps are the classic use. The plate screws to the wall so the tap is held firm and does not wrench the pipe every time somebody pulls on the hose. It also works for shower riser outlets, washing machine taps and anywhere a threaded fitting needs a solid anchor point.

Fitting tips for a Glasgow winter

Fix the plate firmly with screws and plugs to suit the wall. Use PTFE or thread sealant on the tap thread going into the elbow, and get the tap pointing the right way before the sealant sets. Outside, fit a double check valve on the supply for backflow protection, as a hose tap needs, and lag the pipe through the wall against frost. In a Glasgow winter that is not optional.

Common Questions

Will my outside tap on this wallplate elbow need a check valve?

Yes. A garden tap that takes a hose needs backflow protection, normally a double check valve on the supply, under the water regulations.

Can the DZR wallplate elbow sit outside the wall?

It can, and DZR brass copes better than plain brass with being damp. Lag the pipe through the wall, and put a stop valve indoors so the outside run can be shut off and emptied before a hard frost.

What fixings should I use for the plate?

Plugs and screws to suit the wall, so the plate is solid. A tap that moves on its plate soon loosens the joints behind it.
