Compression DZR Bent Tap Connector 15mm

Our Compression DZR Bent Tap Connector takes 15mm copper on one end and threads onto a 1/2″ tap tail on the other, with a bend built in so the pipe can come in from the side or the back rather than straight up. It is made in DZR brass, so it will not go porous in the way ordinary brass sometimes can.

Where it goes

Tap connectors are the last fitting before the tap. The bent version earns its keep under basins and sinks where the pipe arrives from the wall and there is no room to swing a bend in copper. One fitting does the job of an elbow plus a straight connector, which means one less joint to leak in a cramped cabinet. The tap end has a swivel nut, so you are not trying to spin the whole fitting to get it onto the tail.

Fitting tips from a Glasgow merchant

Check what sealing washer the connector comes with before you tighten anything. A fibre washer seals on the face of the tap tail, so the nut only needs to be firm, not heaved on. Make the Compression joint onto the copper first, offer it up, and then do the tap end by hand plus a little with a basin wrench. Do not use PTFE on the tap tail thread when a washer is doing the sealing.

DZR bent tap connector or a flexible hose: which is better?

A bent connector on copper is solid and lasts for years. A flexible hose is quicker to fit where the pipe and tap do not line up. Both do the job.

Which washer goes in the tap nut?

A fibre or rubber tap washer that matches the 1/2″ nut. It seals on the end face of the tap tail.

Can I reach the tap nut under a basin?

A basin wrench makes it far easier. Fit the connector to the pipe first, then do the tap end with the wrench.
