Compression DZR Tank Connectors 15mm to 54mm

Each of the Compression DZR Tank Connectors makes a watertight pipe connection through the wall of a cold water storage tank or cistern, with a Compression joint on the outside for copper tube. It is made in DZR brass, so it is far less likely to dezincify than plain brass in the damp, always-wet spot it sits in.

What it is used for

Feeds out of the loft tank to the hot cylinder and cold taps, overflow and warning pipe connections, and outlets on commercial storage tanks. The threaded body goes through a hole in the tank wall and is clamped with a backnut, with washers either side to seal against the tank. The Compression end then takes the pipe in the normal way.

Fitting tips for Glasgow lofts

Cut the hole cleanly with a proper hole saw for the size and take off any rough edges, especially on plastic tanks. Use a washer on each face of the tank wall and do not overtighten on plastic, as it will distort the tank wall and leak. Support the tank wall from the inside with a hand while you tighten the backnut. Mind the swarf: get every bit of plastic or metal out of the tank before filling.

Common Questions

What size hole does a DZR tank connector need?

It depends on the thread of the connector body, so measure across the thread and cut a hole that lets it pass through snugly. A loose hole lets the washers creep.

Where should the outlet sit on the tank?

Cold feeds come off near the bottom, but far enough up to leave a little space below so sediment is not drawn into the pipe. Keep clear of ribs and curves in the tank wall.

Do I need sealant as well as the washers?

Normally the washers do the sealing on a plastic tank. Use what the tank maker recommends, and avoid anything that attacks plastic.
