The Compression ISO Gas Cock is a gas isolating valve that joins copper pipe with Compression nuts and olives, so no heat is needed. A quarter turn of the handle opens or closes the supply.
Using a Compression ISO Gas Cock
Appliance isolation on gas lets an engineer service or replace a cooker, hob, fire or boiler without turning off the whole property. Because it uses Compression joints, it is quick to fit in places where a flame is not welcome. The 8mm and 10mm sizes are for small appliance feeds. 15mm and 22mm cover the usual domestic pipework.

Use two spanners, one holding the body, when tightening each nut. Do not use jointing compound on the olive unless it is a product made for gas. The handle position shows the state: along the pipe is on, across is off. Gas jobs are for Gas Safe registered engineers only, with a test once finished. Capillary types are in our gas cocks.

Why use a Compression gas cock?
There is no flame involved, handy near timber or on sites where hot work is not allowed. The engineer still has to test the joints for tightness.
Which size gas cock suits a cooker?
It depends on the pipe size feeding the cooker, often 8mm, 10mm or 15mm on domestic work. The engineer will size it to the appliance.
Do I need a gas cock before a fire?
Gas appliances need a means of isolation close by. A Gas Safe registered engineer will fit one if it is missing.
