Compression Lead Coupler to Copper / Plastic 15mm to 22mm

The Compression Lead Coupler connects old lead pipe to new copper or plastic, in sizes from 3/8″ x 15mm 5LB up to 3/4″ x 22mm 9LB.

Where it goes

Lead pipe is sold by its nominal bore and by its weight class, 5LB, 6LB, 7LB or 9LB, which is the weight of a yard of pipe. A heavier pipe of the same bore has a thicker wall and a bigger outside size, so a 1/2″ 6LB and a 1/2″ 7LB need different couplers. The other end takes 15mm or 22mm pipe.

Fitting tips

Measure the outside of the lead pipe or bring an offcut to the counter so we can match it. Cut the lead square without squashing it. Support the lead so it does not bend while you tighten. On plastic pipe, put an insert in first.

Common Questions

What do 5LB, 6LB, 7LB and 9LB mean on lead pipe?

They are lead pipe weight classes, the weight of one yard of pipe. A heavier class has a thicker wall.

How do I tell if my lead pipe is 6LB or 7LB?

Measure the outside with calipers. Or bring a short piece to our counter and we will match it.

Can I use this on a gas pipe?

No. This coupler is for water pipework only.
